FAREWELL,KING OF POP

Image
Acres of newsprint is being devoted to the sudden passing away of Michael Jackson, the iconic pop sensation of the 80’s.Frankly, I'm not a big fan but like most people world over,I agree that he is irreplaceable .His life was, like that of most people in the entertainment industry, filled with controversies starting from his change of skin color to his horribly gone-wrong plastic surgery,to his failed marriages,to the child molestation accusations,to his holding his baby by the window railing and now to the cause of his death and the huge debts .But beyond all this, the true fan following for his unique artistry as a musician and entertainer ceases to fade away. The MJ songs which I love the most include Billie Jean,Black or White,Heal the World,Dirty Diana,P.Y.T& Beat It. One thing is for sure, the music, the magic and the madness of Michael “Whacko Jacko”Jackson will live on forever. R.I.P  MJ.

THE POISONOUS MUSHROOM

Background: This story comes from Der Giftpilz , an anti-Semitic children's book published by Julius Streicher , the publisher of Der Stürmer . He was executed as a war criminal in 1946. This summary and partial translation is taken from a 1938 publication issued by the "Friends of Europe" in London, an organization to which I have not been able to find a successor to request permission to reprint. A mother and her young boy are gathering mushrooms in the German forest. The boy finds some poisonous ones. The mother explains that there are good mushrooms and poisonous ones, and, as they go home, says:"Look, Franz, human beings in this world are like the mushrooms in the forest. There are good mushrooms and there are good people. There are poisonous, bad mushrooms and there are bad people. And we have to be on our guard against bad people just as we have to be on guard against poisonous mushrooms. Do you understand that?" "Yes, mother," Franz replies. &q

BEACH CRICKET

Image
When there’s absolutely nothing to do, the automatic next resort to some entertainment is the idiot box. I was really bored one summer afternoon and I used this resort to help kill my boredom. There weren’t any good flicks or good music,shows,etc..so I was surfing through the sports channels when I came across a totally new version of cricket called beach cricket. It felt kinda weird not seeing the conventional grass but sand in its place and the players in shorts and tees and not their usual jerseys. The strangest part of course, was the yellow colored plastic pitch!! The match was between Australia and South Africa and most of the players are former players who’ve retired from international cricket .South Africa won the match. During some county matches in England, the commentators sometimes converse with the fieldsmen when the match is in progress. But in this game, they actually give the microphone to the batsman on strike and talk to them! I personally feel this could be highly d

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

Image
Well, its World Environment Day and I’m all for going green. So,what did I do??Nothing great, just thought I’d post this little something I’d written for a friend a couple of months back. When I first wrote it for my friend for her university project, she just absolutely loved it. So I saved it and thought it was the most relevant thing to post. So,am I implementing it daily in my life?Well,im really trying hard to. Hope the person reading it too finds it necessary to seriously think  about and help save our beautiful planet EARTH!!  A day in my life could be described somewhat like this: • I wake up in the morning and brush my teeth and leave the tap running while brushing and turn it off only when I’m done. • I realize, I was in the shower for too long, shampooing my hair, consequence of which is that I ‘v my missed my bus to college and I'm running late in so I’ve asked my dad to drop me. • Its my turn to take out the garbage today and as I’m already late I don’t separate the

Book Review : KHALED HOSSEINI

Image
K haled Hosseini,Afghan-American writer is renowned for his two bestselling books, The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns.I’v read both and I must admit, I absolutely loved his works. It paints a soulful, emotional and touching journey of the people of Afghanistan woven in a fabric of simple yet compelling words which brings out the fact that the basic emotions of love, patriotism, jealously, fear, passion, freindiship, pain etc. exist even in a country with which sadly nowadays one associates only war and they have been wonderfully captivated by Hosseini. Of course, he has brought out the reality of the actual turmoil in a small sense. Kite Runner is about a rich kid who moves to the US of A during his growing years because the Taliban take over his homeland .It mainly describes his life pre and post Taliban; first in Afghanistan with his friend and next; finding love in America and the life changing event that occurs in-between the geographical and emotional shift and also his
