SAGACITY 09’

Sagacity means” World Of Wisdom” and version 6.09,held on the 4th  and 5th of September  was just  that and much, much more.
 Sagacity is the annual technical fest conducted by the students of the B.Sc Information Technology and B.Sc Computer Science Depts. Of VES College,Chembur,Mumbai.

Sagacity 09’,having the all important message of “Stop Racism” as its theme, celebrated the strength of technology amidst a plethora of unparalleled events unmatched by any other technical extravaganza. Traditionally, Sagacity raises the bar and showcases a grand display of a brilliantly-organized tech fest which draws huge participation of students from the technical as well as the non–technical field. This year witnessed around 2500 students coming in from over 75 colleges in the city to showcase their skills and put their strength to the test, competing with the best of the best in the business. Be it the technical events like writing programs in various languages, debugging them, or just typing real fast or be it  in the  non-technical fun events like  Sudoku,Quiz ,Stock Market, Debate on the most happening topics and PowerPoint Presentations, the participants gave it their all.Also,the biggest crowd pullers were CS 1.6,FIFA 09 and NFS MW which got all the gaming junkies going.
 The entertainers were of course the Star Events of Sagacity i.e. Robotics which comprised of Rob Race and Robo War and Bluffmaster,which is an adaptation of a reality show where participants ‘bluffed’ their way into winning.  It was truly  a pleasurable, learning and fun experience to be involved in  it.
 Every year,Sagacity, which is dubbed” the 2nd best tech fest of Mumbai”,promises to deliver something bigger and better and this year too,full credit goes to the organizing team for doing their job successfully with impeccable efficiency and for a brilliant portrayal of dedication in a remarkable way and  for taking the fest one notch higher, as always, and proving that the sky is the limit for Sagacity!

    Hopefully Sagacity will keep on climbing steps towards huge success...But we wont be there to watch it happen..!

GO AHEAD, SAVE THE TIGER :|

Acres of newsprint have and are still being devoted to the Tiger Woods story even in India. What is appalling is that when our country is facing an even graver threat of the possible extinction of its national animal, it is indeed heartbreaking that the wrong ‘Tiger’ gets wider coverage. The 'real' tiger’s missing stripes,sadly, get lesser attention. At the turn of the 20th century, according to sources, India had an estimated 40,000 tigers in the wild. Tigers are threatened by a combination of poaching, habitat loss from development. In 2002, based on pug mark census, this number was 3,642. As per the monitoring exercise by Wildlife Institute of India in association with National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), Government of India using camera traps, in 2008 we were left with only 1,411 tigers. There are more tigers in wildlife parks and zoos today than there are in the wild, which goes to prove how much support zoological parks provide for endangered species of the world...

Double Seat: When a “Story” is “Real”

I t began when a dear acquaintance of mine recommended that I watch the trailer for an upcoming Marathi film titled “Double Seat”. Given my high regard for this person’s opinion, I jumped onto clicking on the link to the trailer. I was not disappointed at all. At the end of 03 mins and 07 secs, I made up my mind – I am not going to miss out on this interesting dose of cuteness. Yet another Marathi movie waited to be added onto my list of unbiased viewing this year. Mukta Barve and Ankush Chaudhari play the newly married lower-middle class couple, Manjiri and Amit. I do not wish to reveal even one tiny bit of the story here and spoil it for the reader, because it definitely deserves to be watched on screen.
