ADAM GILCHRIST
Adam Gilchrist is a phenomenon. While the Aussie’s methods with the willow are exhilarating, his work with the gloves is safe. The statistics speak for themselves. Any cricketer who can make such a serious impact in all forms of the game with the willow is certainly special.
This bloke is influential, both as a lower middle order batsmen in tests ,where he has go the Aussies out of tight spots time and again and that too at staggering scoring rates ,and also in the ODI’s where he sets the tempo as a opener and often progresses to much bigger things.T20 of course, needless to say, was tailor –made for him.
I admire and respect him as a sportsman and above all as a person. His spirit of sportsmanship shone through when he ‘walked’in the semifinals of the 2003 World Cup. Beyond doubt,’Gilly’,as he is fondly known, is the finest wicket keeper-batsmen to have played the gentleman’s game.
His words before the tsunami relief game in Melbourne should throw light on the man.” It shouldn’t take one freak act of nature to realize how generous we can be, For people out there, thanks for your support now but think about the long-term effect you can have.”
Its really a pity that he has retired from playing international cricket, except the IPL where one can not only look forward to his sensational knocks but also his valuable skills as a captian.Australian Cricket and cricket fans in general are going to miss him.
For all these reasons combined and especially because he can do magic when he’s out in the field batting or wicketkeeping,Adam Gilchrist is my all-time no.1 favorite batsman and wicketkeeper.
